Lazy Monday on Rainy Vancouver Island

Rain, rain, go away.....this is getting ridiculous! My gardens are lush with flowers and weeds. The beaches and campsites are empty of outdoorsy types. I'm spending a lot of time reading so........

Literacy Nanaimo (Well Read Books) is having a basement sale of thousands of books at $2 each. I found ten in the short time we had there. Books of every genre, author, publication year, and size filled the table tops and boxes below on the floor. It was a book lovers dream come true. The sale is on this week and maybe next so why not come to Nanaimo for a visit....bring a big suitcase and comfy shoes!

My favourite books I bought are the US Army Corps of Engineers Navigational Charts of the Ohio, Tennessee, and Upper Mississippi Rivers. How they ever made their way up to Nanaimo I'll never know but they'll be wonderful for future mapping projects!

    1. I think so too Kristen but my hubby thinks I'm nuts and I'm not going to show the girls as I don't want to see their eyeballs roll again!

    1. Books, art supply, and stationary shops have the same effect on me, Renilde. Some sections of hardware shops can grab my attention too! You?

    1. Ha ha, Sus, I'm gasping along with you, I saw the sun for a few minutes this morning and some blue spots in the sky now. Still a good day for "IN" and now that I have these new books I'll be easily entertained. xo

    1. Hi Joanna, that's most likely what I'll do before I use them in some printmaking projects I have bubbling in my head.

  10. Ah, if my feet were up to walking I would be over in a heartbeat. I love book sales. Now I am retired I plan to visit you.....just sayin! Or you can visit me the next time you are in town to watch the Lions play!

  11. Hello Mary-Anne! YAY, come visit me any time! Sadly we won't be over much to see the Lions this year, if at all. The Grey Cup tickets last year wiped out our entertainment fund! :(

  12. Great finds,
    dear Carol!
I love maps... and they are able to bring us the past closer.

Our summer is both rainy and full of sunshine too, in turns. You make the best with your trove... and drawing with your non dominant hand! Its amazing how delicate and strong your drawing is.

    Best,
    Ariane

    2. Dear Carole,
last year in April we had that theme (host was Rachel, our host this week, too). But I think, doesn't matter! So, do you wanna be our host after this weekend with this wonderful theme?

  13. No guilt reading when the weather's dismal. So calming and relaxing. A good meditation. Lucky you!
Finally bought the elusive poetry book you recommended: The Thing About Dying. Good, funny reading late at night.
    Thanks.
