This week's Drawing Challenge is CROW.
| gouache on rice paper by Carole Reid 2012 |
We have a gang of crows in the neighbourhood. They dive bomb the cats, tease the dogs, chase away the small birds from the feeders. Once their young are not so young the crows relax more and hang around on electrical wires waiting and watching. I wonder if they know I'm watching them too, sometimes with my binoculars!
Sue, Sus, Nadine, Norma, Barbara, Ariane, Julia, Celine, Lise, Rachel, Helen, Renilde, and Tajana have all joined in the Drawing Challenge. Click on their names and you will see their wonderful works of art. Enjoy!
Oh this sounds like a good one!I am very tempted but can't spend too much time in the studio this week. But HAVE FUN!
ReplyDeleteAnother time when things have settled down.
DeleteThere is a quiet street near the crescent where the crows like to play. They are very rude to uninvited company.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to join in please.
I Mojo hates those pesky crows! You're on the list.
Deletewhat a great idea. i won’t join in because i have tons of work to finish off before i get to play, but i’m really looking forward to seing the result! will you show us? x sandra

DeleteHi dear Carole! Thank you for inviting me. It is amazing that you invite me, an absoulute non-artist :) I am not sure if I have the time, and if I do, I think I will post already tomorrow morning. I will let you know. I like your theme, no, that is not true, I love your theme. And my head has already started spinning, so we will see..

Deletedear Carole, thanks for the invitation, i'm working so many late hours at the moment that there is far to little time to paint at the moment but i'm working on a gouache and yes there is a crow involved so i'll try to finish it in time for the challenge, love, Renilde
ReplyDeletemy favorite bird. i´m in.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful simplicity of this strikes me. The line of the image. The airiness of it. This would look nice in a simple glass frame. Love this! N. xo
ReplyDeletep.s. this was a great theme Carole; thanks for being the host for this one.
Thanks for the glass frame suggestion.....I might have one hanging around!
DeleteGlad you enjoy the theme. xo
lovely soft muted shades of black.
ReplyDeletethis was a great challenge for spontaneity I had fun. Ive posted mine and Im off to check out everyone elese now.
Have a good week Carole thanks for a great challenge
Helen :)
I'm glad you enjoyed this challenge Helen! Here's to a fabulous week. xo
DeleteHi, Carole - I think your gouache on rice paper crow is a patient watcher - maybe even a zen practitioner! Thanks for the fun of this challenge. Hope you are enjoying the weekend. -sus
ReplyDeleteA zen crow.....is that possible? Glad you had fun. It's a long weekend here...BC Day! xo
Deleteupdated: wonderful quick painting.love.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tatjana. I used a sponge to paint this one.
DeleteSuch a beautiful Crow
ReplyDeletedear Carole!
Very nice shape.
Is it watercolour? Its like carbon but airy, dull, very mysterious.
Love it!
Thank you very much for beeing our host with this wonderful theme. So many pretty birds were coming together! And, I'm marveled that Crow and the bigger Raven are all over world... didn't know that before.
x Ariane.
Hi Ariane, it's done with gouache mixed with water and painted (dabbed on) with a sponge brush. Someone once said "some day, crows and blackberries will rule the world". xo
DeleteDear Carole, at least I have written my post.I do not have the time now to read yyours, or the others, I will come back later to day to do so
ReplyDeleteDear Carole, thank you for the challenge. The crow is a strange bird, it is not twittering nice melodies in the woods, no, it is often quite near us people, and trying to annoy us as best they can. In spite of that, or may be, I find them very interesting. I love your black crow. The crows in Norway are mostly black and grey, but in our town, Trondheim, and in Stavanger, we have mostly black crows, like yours. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Lise, it's interesting that crows are all over the world and that not all are black. We have the magpie in parts of BC too. They are black with white. Just as smart and cheeky as the crow! Your crow photos are hilarious....thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeletebeautiful crow Carole, proud and confident and surrounded by that feeling of mystery, thanks for the challenge, x
ReplyDeleteThank you Renilde. I'm glad you liked this challenge. I wonder what's next?
DeleteI like your drawing Carole! ...and your idea was an original and very interesting one : )
ReplyDeleteHello Demie! Thanks!
DeleteGreat job on the crow, Carole! hope you're having a fab summer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna! My summer is going very well thank you. I hope your's is too! :)
DeleteSo looks like fun Carole...
ReplyDeletehope you are enjoying summer and all is well with you!
