Drawing Challenge: Snake

Our creative Drawing Challenge "snake" is being hosted at Ariane's. Because I'm working with books and paper at the moment I've cut my snakes out from a page of a book.

These slithering snakes were first drawn onto the book page and cut out with sharp scissors. They were then placed onto the back cover of the book for these photos.

The snake on the left was made from a page torn out of the book. I rolled the page into a snake shape and then slathered it with gel medium to sculpt into the slithering snake.

The snake enjoyed slithering so much that it escaped from the book cover onto the driftwood and is now trying to escape off my studio table to get to the other snakes at Ariane's. Ssssssssssss!

  1. Love the wavy lines Carole. They look like they are moving, and to my eye, suggest rippling water against the blue background. They are wonderful. Wouldn't these be great used for printing with? I mean rolling paint right over top of them and then using them to press the paint on to the paper, or what have you. I'd like to see a photograph of them (as they are) right on top of your stack of books(the ones you made) so they kind of get lost, but shadows tell us what they are. I like your work a lot. Hugs, Norma, x
