Lazy Monday

Are you inspired by your surroundings? Do the colours of your wall or the music on your stereo inspire action or relaxation? Does the texture of the pillows on your couch make your fingers itch to create something new? How about the movies you watch?

I am inspired by the what I see, hear, touch, smell so I surround myself (as much as a minimalist decorator can) with objects I find interesting to the senses. Including.............

  1. Of course I am inspired, or the opposite, by my surroundings. I need the colours to be right to feel well, and a painting, or an object, can give me great joy. I cannont call me a minimalist, I love weird things, but I am not the opposite either. But I am not a very creative soul, at least not with my fingers. Your not totally minimalistic objects are charming, and I loved the plate

    1. Hi Lise, I'm glad you corrected yourself by saying you are a creative soul! The plate was a gift from my friend Sue. I love it too!

  2. Your second photo reminds me of some items I keep in view at our home. The old, worn and one of a kind appeal and inspire me.

  3. Oh Yes!!! That's why my house is exploding from all that stuff, haha! If I don't have that, things that inspire me or make me feel good, I can't stay in that room very long.... That's also why I don't like changes in the house, just my movind an object I feel weird, hihi.

  4. Yes, I do get inspired by my surroundings, however, I like to have it more minimalistic where I work. There are so much creative noise in my head, so I try to keep the surroundings simple. So I think that I mostly find my inspiration outside and then I go back to work. Funny how we prefer things in our creative world:)

    1. I totally get what you're saying about the creative noise in your head. Nature is an amazing source of inspiration for all to enjoy for free!

  5. I'm a bit of a magpie, i take lots of things that get my attention and interest to my 'nest', feathers and stones(nature a constant source of inspiration) odd things, toys, books, from thriftshops and brocantes.
my interior is changing with the seasons and ...always
,some things stay for like... ever, other are given away and still other end up in wooden and cardboard boxes and tins to get rediscovered and admired again at some later point in time
they all have one thing in common, they inspired me, xx

  8. I like to decorate with lots of things I love, but it can get out of hand! We've had to abstain from estate sales of late. (My daughter thinks I'm on the verge of hoarders disease!)

  10. yes and no I go through bouts of have lots of stuff till I become overwhelmed then I have to clear the decks to let my mind wander. I liken it to creative claustrophobia you gather all these awe inspiring objects around you and your eye/brain cant ignore them so you are constantly processing design or art until suddenly you cant breathe mentally and creatively you cant go forward. Getting the balance right is important for me.

PS: at the moment its claustrophobic and Im in the process of minimalising my surroundings.
