As an artist I like to support the galleries, museums, small bookstores, dance/theatre groups, and library in my city and surrounding area. Being a member allows me access to the shows, opening nights, discounts in the gift shops, and often a monthly newsletter. Membership to the public galleries also offer the opportunity to have my paintings shown in the "members only" shows!

Memberships are a key funding element for small nonprofit arts orgs and the Sailor and I belong to our tiny museum as well as the local arts council. Real important and the benefits are numerous. -sus
ReplyDeleteSus, they depend on us especially with government cutbacks.
DeleteI have never heard about members only show, however it is a great idea! I think I have to tell Norway about this:)
ReplyDeleteHey Line, I think Norway should look into this too! Happy week to you. :)
DeleteHI Carole, I have just joined the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild as part of my entry to an upcoming juried exhibition!!! Would you consider a drive to Calgary too far? On the map it looks ok as an Australian but google said it's a 19 hour drive!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to be there? If yes.....then I might be able to fly there for a couple of days. That would be cool!
Deletewished we thought of such clever ideas, dear!
